Domaine Skouras

Domaine Skouras is located in the Northeastern Peloponnese, in Argolida, close to the provinces of Corinthia and Arcadia, just a few kilometres from Nafplion, in the village of Malandreni.Situated among vineyards, the winery is an ultra-modern winemaking facility, with an elegant Greek architecture, designed to ensure proper and thorough procedures of the highest standards in all aspects of wine production and bottling, with a first class experience for visitors seeking education, entertainment, initiation to wine and hospitality.

George Skouras was born in Argos, one of the oldest cities in Europe, where civilization and viticulture have flourished for over 3,000 years. In 1980, he decided to study Agriculture at the University of Dijon, in Burgundy, France. There, his encounter with the local Chardonnay and Pinot Noir varieties and his close contact with renowned winemakers of the region opened up new horizons. After graduating with a degree in Oenology, he gained hands-on experience working in historic wineries in France, Italy, and Greece.

In 1986, he began turning his vision into reality by founding his own winery and releasing the now-iconic label “Megas Oenos.” From the very beginning, his goal was clear: high quality wines.

The journey started in Pyrgela, a small village outside Argos, with a modest production facility, rented vineyards and equipment, and bottling done by hand. This was followed by the creation of a boutique winery in Gymno, within the PDO Nemea zone. There, the countless hours of manual work on an extremely small scale became an invaluable study on the Agiorgitiko variety and the Nemea denomination.

In 2004, the winery was relocated to Malandreni, a village near Argos, within the Protected Designation of Origin (PDO) zone of Nemea. The new facilities offered greater capacity and cutting-edge infrastructure, yet were carefully designed to preserve the authenticity and identity of the wines. For the Skouras team, technology is simply a tool for precision and control. True winemaking happens with minimal intervention—always with respect for the grape, the land, and the passage of time. In 2024, Ktima Skouras expanded with new winemaking facilities in Zevgolatio, Mantinia, at the heart of the PDO zone for Moschofilero. Annual production reaches approximately 850,000 bottles, with 50% exported to more than 25 countries worldwide.
